Psychotherapy Freiburg: Topics & Services at a Glance

Focus Areas

I work with, among other things, depressive symptoms, anxiety, overwhelm/burnout, psychosomatic complaints, the consequences of major life events, difficulties in relationships, family or work, as well as questions related to gender identity.

My Therapeutic Approach

The roots of psychological difficulties often lie in early experiences with important caregivers. These experiences shape an individual pattern of feelings, perceptions and ways of reacting.

When we later encounter overwhelming or life-changing situations, these familiar patterns may no longer provide sufficient answers – and psychological suffering can emerge.

In psychodynamic therapy, it is therefore central to recognize, understand and gradually change these patterns in the here and now of the therapeutic relationship. This opens up the possibility of regaining more influence over one’s inner experience and actions.

Psychotherapy Freiburg: Group Therapy

An essential part of my practice is analytical group therapy. It has proven to be particularly helpful and effective for a wide range of psychological problems.
Because many emotional difficulties arise and show themselves in relational contexts, the group setting offers a unique opportunity to experience, together with others, where certain difficulties come from, how they express themselves in the here and now, and how new, more lively ways of relating can develop.

Many participants experience, often for the first time, a real sense of belonging in the group. Being truly seen and understood can be deeply moving – and can lead to more fulfilling relationships with oneself and with others.

The group provides a space in which thoughts, feelings and conflicts can be reflected upon together. Honest engagement with others allows new perspectives on oneself and on one’s relationship patterns.

Working with Personality Disorders

Another focus of my work is the treatment of people with so-called personality disorders – that is, enduring patterns of relating and self-image that repeatedly lead to inner or interpersonal conflict.
Here I work with Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), a specialized and well-researched treatment method.

Within the safe framework of the therapeutic relationship, current relational experiences are taken up and made understandable. In this way, central inner conflicts can be experienced, worked through and gradually integrated – providing an important basis for greater inner clarity, emotional stability and the capacity for relationships.

Gender-Nonconforming, Genderqueer and Trans* Individuals

Another focus of my work is supporting people who live in a gender-nonconforming, genderqueer or trans* way.

In line with the current S3 guidelines (“Geschlechtsinkongruenz, Geschlechtsdysphorie und Trans-Gesundheit”, AWMF), I offer therapeutic support before, during and after a transition process.

At the center is respectful, safe and individually tailored support.
